Mal joined our team of Advisers based in Melbourne in May 2020.  Immediately prior to starting with Ngamuru, Mal was a senior lawyer in the Department of Defence’s legal office providing services for internal clients across the portfolio.

Mal is highly skilled in the provision of strategic commercial and contracting advice.  In supporting Defence’s Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, Mal gained extensive experience in complex capital equipment procurement programs, sophisticated and at times contentious commercial negotiations, contract management and rigorous administration as well as in supporting related corporate activities associated with staff management and organisational policy reform.  Whilst in private practice, Mal worked on numerous matters in the fields of both commercial and civil litigation.

Recognised by his peers for his ability in developing constructive working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, Mal has an advanced ability to rapidly understand and distil complex and problematic commercial scenarios.  He utilises this ability to subsequently design and execute work programs to resolve complex situations, resulting in a proven track record of contract delivery and sound commercial management.  As an effective leader and communicator, Mal provides practical advice to our clients based on deep real-world experience.
